Shades for Floor Lamps

If you can’t bring in your floor lamp, then please bring in your existing shade if looking for a replacement.

As with table lamp shades, floor lamp shades are offered in softback and hardback.

Softbacks

Softback floor lamp shades are shades with fabric lining the interior as well as the exterior. They are available in silk/shantung, linen, anna fabrics as well as silk string and faux leather. Many styles are available in white, off white and eggshell and some others also in beige and black. Some styles have pleats, others, a scallop or V notch bottom.

Hardbacks

Hardback floor lamp shades are constructed from either parchment paper or fabric stretched over styrene. Fabrics include silk, linen, muslin, innsbruck, burlap in solids and prints.

Shapes

Depending on kind of floor lamp ( pole, swing arm), you may select from various shapes including bell, empire, drum, square and hexagon.

Kinds of floor lamp shade fitters

Floor lamps have different mechanisms for supporting a shade:

• Many have a harp, and consequently call for a washer fitting shade, same as most table lamps.
• Others may call for an uno or bridge shade– the fitter screws into the lamp’s socket.
• Or some call for a washer fitting shade sufficiently wide to rest on top of a  glass reflector bowl.

Again, it’s best to bring in your floor lamp or at least the existing shade if you have one when searching for a replacement.
